THE new fixed-layout page displays now possible on Kindle Fire tablets and iPads have been welcomed by publishers and author-illustrators of comic books and graphic novels. But perhaps an even more appealing format—because of its wide cross--platform support—is the content-designed Comic Book format, which takes the form of compressed (RAR or ZIP) graphic files.

Stand-alone readers of CBR and CBZ titles for Windows and Mac laptops have now been supplemented by apps for mobile devices.
